This year started off with my swearing in as a State Senator. As I have said many times, I could not have done this without all of you.
I wanted to take a minute to update you on what has been happening in Albany. The 2021 Legislative Session began with a flurry of legislative activity. Bills regarding elections and voting were brought up the first day of legislative session. I had many concerns with these bills including the lack of thought given to the financial burden being placed on our counties. These bills will be detrimental to our local governments and boards of election. I voiced my concerns on the floor of the Senate. Unfortunately, the bills were passed anyway, many of which will raise taxes on our already struggling residents. Simply put, these bills are nothing more than partisan politics.
This cannot continue to happen. There is a blatant disregard for residents and our communities. I have been working to reach out to our state and local stakeholders to get their insight and work to find real solutions. We must continue to voice our concerns, even if they fall on deaf ears.
